£1725 Fully Comp on a 55 plate Honda Blackbird.......
.....I paid £1600 FC on my CBR600F last year......
Just how difficult is it not having a car and using the bike all year round?????
This could get very interesting, especially as the Honda dealer has a couple of Blackbirds in, and my CBR is in there at the moment for sale. Hmmm, trade mine in and some cash his way, i could be on a Blackbird by the end of March.......
Oh dear, what am i talking myself into

Well, being single, not a home owner, 24, 6 points on my license and having passed my test in July of last year, i kinda expected it to be a bit high.
£1600 for the CBR was the lowest i got after 3 days searching and phoning round. The highest was £4000 FC, which i thought was a bit steep.
Even so, i reckon £1700 for a Blackbird wasn't too bad, i'm paying that for my M5 at the moment!

Where do you live/how is it stored? CBR600F is a beginner-ish bike, so £1600 seems very steep, even with your age & licence.
Live in the centre of Aberdeen. Bike doesn't have an alarm, but is in a locked alarmed garage (or at least it was until it went to the dealer).I tried everybody for insurance, i used 3 different comparison search engines, phoned around 20 insurers, and that was the best quote i got. I put it down to my age, points and circumstances.
I know it's high, but didn't think it was that bad at the time

The CBR was insured with EBike, and the quote for the Blackbird was also from Ebike
My insurance costs last year for car, bike and van came to nearly £4k. Just one of the disadvantages of being young
How old are you under 21!!!My insurance costs last year for car, bike and van came to nearly £4k. Just one of the disadvantages of being young
I went on one of them compare web sites for mine at least you can have a look then see what on offer.
I'm 24. However, as i said earlier, 6 points, being single, and not a home owner all work against me. I shop around for my insurance as i know its expensive, but i don't quite understand everybodies reaction to how much i'm paying. Yeah, its a chunk of cash, but that's the best deal i could get.
Now, back to the original question. How fesible is it to use a bike every day? And is a blackbird a half decent option????

It is expensive but if you look at the performance its not...24 is young for a new ish sports bike and your 6 points will not doubt be adding 2-300 to that figure, depending on what you got them for..
I bet its similar to any half decent "performance" car ,all rear round would be more than viable on the blackie, good finish and a reliable steed, it'll kick rear tyres in thou which may be a costly over a year.
