Car + Bike insurance
Discussion
I have 9+ years NCB on my car - can/does this have any bearing on my bike insurance, or are they totally seperate? (I know that with a car policy, you can usually only use your NCB's on one car (although some insurers are now doing a multi-car policy))
Any reccomendations of insurer/broker? A quick PH search suggests Bennetts are the biggest, but there are also some stong suggestions to avoid them like the plague...
I'm 30, full car licence for 13 years, full bike licence for about 9 years, 9+ years car NCB, possibly 1 years bike NCB (can't remember whether that policy was Fully Comp, or just TPF&T), the bike will be an R6, around 5 years old, worth around 4k - Anyone with similar stats, I'd be delighted to hear from you!!

i always get asked how much car NCD ive got when i get bike insurance so maybe they use it as a guide? could be like a 2nd car where they give a reduction similar to NCD as your a good risk.
carol nash do some sort of cashback (£50 IIRC) for a 2nd policy with them, so if they are ok move the car across & get a deal for that.

Try the link blow, has a number of online brokers who could get a good deal, I found A-Plan did OK for me (another broker).

They are seperate, despite never having a single claim in 12 years driving I was pretty expensive for my bike, having just passed my test and itching to get on my bike I was 370 tpft for a year, much more expensive than my motor, they never bothered to ask me about my car at all. Mind you I never really shopped around - just called one the day I passed and got cover there and then - I guess there is a moral to this story !!

Not always........ my Mrs had her no claims taken into account, and remember if you have an accident in a car you have to inform the bike insurer - and vice versa. If you don't have protected no-claims - they could reset your no claims to zero for your other policy. It all works in the insurers favour.
