Am looking at picking up a FZ6 Fazer S2 next month, so am in the to ABS or not to ABS quandry, any opinions or experience on whether it's worth having on a bike?

I generally hate it on cars, but don't have the two-wheeled wisdom to have any opinion really.

Here we go again!

You might want to check out this thread:

Key point from proper research into ABS on motorcycles:

"On an average, they concluded that about 55% of the motorcycle accidents could be avoided or at least positively influenced by ABS."

but some people think it's better for everyone else to learn how to brake without it! A sort of "we'll throw you in at the deep end and if you don't drown then you'll know how to swim" type approach!

Where are you quoting this from, and who are "they"?

I would love to know who has worked out that just having ABS on a bike actually reduces the chance of a motorcycle being involved in an accident; after all, that's what your quote is saying isn't it (...accidents could be avoided...)?

It's not a statistic I've ever seen in print, but hey "there are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics" (Benjamin Disraeli).

edited to add quote in a poor attempt at humour

It's not a statistic I've seen in print and I would possibly like to read more.

Its been pretty well documented and is no longer a contentious issue.

Riders can stop significantly faster and under greater control on a bike WITH ABS over one without.

My current ride does not have ABS, but i doubt i will ever buy another bike without it.
