Had a change of heart about the Street Triple - it's a great bike and very easy to ride as I passed my DAS last September. But I know that in a year's time, I would want a GSXR and as my local dealer is offering a new bike for £5995 it was too hard to resist!

Obviously I'm expected to lose my £200 deposit on the Triumph but once you total up the cost of adding all the essential bits and bobs on the Triple, it adds up to the same price so and they're both similar price to insure.

So I thought stuff it, instead of changing in a year's time just decided to go for one now. Only got the start of April before collecting the bike after doing a refresher course to get my riding up to speed again - can't wait! smile

If you think you'll lose the £200 on the ST, don't cancel it until it arrives, then try and sell it on and get your money back (or maybe a profit?) - isn't there a big waiting list for those? Nothing to lose if you think the £200 is gone already?

I'll pop into the Triumph/Honda dealership tomorrow to cancel but as I have a good relationship (mate and I have bought bikes from them last year) with them they might be able to refund the deposit. I hinted to them that I may change my mind about the Triple a few weeks ago and they were pretty chilled about the whole thing - will see how it goes.

Checked around for fully comp insurance, at first most were offering in the region of £1200 - £1000 (no NCB 30yr old with 3 points). But after a bit of bartering with Express Insurance they knocked down their £1059 quote to £650! It pays to go back to them and contest the price smile

Going 3rd party fire & theft for £500 had crossed my mind but didn't want to risk as I'm a new rider...especially a new bike.

Dunno how they worked that out. I paid a shade under £400 FC for my GSXR600 & that was a month after I passed my test last year. I'm only a bit older at 33 (at the time) & didn't have any points (that changed after I got the bike too!). Admittedly my bike is a 99/00 model, but even so.....
