Free insurance?
Discussion
A good incentive to get people to buy cars (if you're young) is to offer free insurance. I'm inching ever closer to getting my bike test done, and was wondering if any manufacturers regularly have offers going? I'm 22, and would be after a big boys' bike. Obviously if I can save £700 or so (what I was quoted for a Fazer, I think) it'd be good!
Your big problem is year two.
One years no claims doesn't make a huge difference to a young rider with only one years experience, so the second year can come as a big shock.
Bike manufacturers did a lot of free insurance deals a few years ago, however when the insurance companies looked at the number of bikes getting "stolen" or accidentally catching fire around renewal time they soon stopped it or introduced lots of caveats (minimum security, minimum age, large excess, only certain postcodes etc).
There are still some deals around though; keep an eye in the bike mags.
