my wife and daughter have both refused to go on the bike with me

apparently i am a 'NUTTER' and both have refused to go on a bike with me

i have tried bribery, asking nicely but no dice

apparently it stems from a quad bike safari in greece we went on

my wife demanded that our daughter went with her for saftey issues (re Nutter)

anyway after the guide continually asking her to speed up half way through she manages to park the bike on the only boulder in a dry river bed

when the dust settled there is wifey perchered over the quad bike and my daughter lying on the floor

anyway i got to look after my daughter on the way home

and may i point out i kept her perfectly safe and she held on tight as i did a little drifting on dust

we had lots of fun doing a few small jumps

until the guide berated me

'no jumping'nono

'NO JUMPING WITH CHILD'nono

anyway i got her home safely

she also bring up the time we went out in a double go kart when she was 4-5

these things were restricted and electric

so they had a top speed and good acceleration to that

no my daughter had never sworn to this point

but as i swung the kart in and drifted through the corner i heard a little voice

'fking hell dad'

followed by 'you bugger' on the next corner hehe

anyway neither of them trust me

any ideas

Find a fit skinny polish bird and stick her on the back.

Take her round your gaff for tea.

My wife has never been on the back of my bike, or any bike for that matter. Suits me just fine bike handles & performs better solo and looks much better with a 'monoposto' seat anyway.

If your wife won't go on the back, borrow someone else's...

Your wife has friends, your daughter has mates who have mums, even the guy next door is probably married.
Strike up conversations, become friends, make offers. Lots of non biker's wives are "keen" to go out on the back with someone...

Once your own wife sees you giving someone else a shot she will follow suit just to prove she still "owns" you.
And if she doesn't, it's up to you how often you take your new friend for a ride...

Just make sure the other husband doesn't know/isn't the jealous type/is small and weedy.

pillions just upset the balance of the bike anyway...

one thing i've found out a few times is that girls prefer the soft momo leather of my Alfa Romeo 166 interior, to the pillion seat on my GPz

My wife hates the bike and won't go out on any of the bikes I have had. So teh last one and this one have never had the seat fitted, always the seat cowl.

The bikes go stop and handle far better without a pillion on there!

I don't enjoy the ride as much riding with a pillion to be honest.

I do sometimes take my older daughter on the bike, from my first marriage.

My second wife was knocked off her bike many years ago and simply won't consider on going on a bike ever again, nor will she let our kids.

I suppose it's my choice to have a bike and so, at least if I do get injured, or killed at some stage, I won't take any family with me.....

- and it's much quieter without the Mrs on the back anyway!

I must admit non of my family are keen. Took my brother out, must have been a sight a GSX-R600 with the two of us, both 6 foot plus. Anyway, did a lap of the "block" and that was enough, I was even going very slow... frownloser

Like others have said, I prefer not having a passenger, less pressure not to mae an error. whistle

Erm, yeah. It sounds to me like you don't exactly fill them with confidence with your riding abilities.
You want them to trust you, but then you 'drift' with your daughter on the back!
Very odd.

I dont mind pillys if they dont start trying to ride for you. had one who's bike always seems to need to lean more than mine for the same corner at the same speed so she decided to 'help' on corners. cured her of that asap.
a lot of it depends on the bike i reckon, my old RF was a heavy fat slug with a pilly & not that nice at all. my 14 doesnt even notice, rides the same as normal except a touch more braking required.
