I' off for a couple of weeks and wife is at work.

We are thinking about moving house, so i have a great idea.

Will get some diy started try and get the place ship shape. So start by giving the radiators a lick of new paint.

Got a tin of paint in the attic, access to which is in my 2 year old daughters room.

I find the paint and a few other bits n bods, step onto ladder and.................

Yes the tin of paint falls to the floor, and breaks open, pain all over the new cream coloured carpet.

Just spent 2 hours trying to clean it off.

Oh how my wife will laugh when she sees this. NOT....

Anyone got a spare room and space in a garage for a zx10r?

I've got plenty of room,....seriously!

Re DIY...I've put a nice new hardwood floor down in the bedroon...Looks v nice. Been down a couple of weeks now. Then I was ordered to buy this chest of drawers, in distressed wood of some kind...(Well it looked pretty scared as soon as it found out I was putting it together). So, I got all the bits out of the box. Decided to build it in the bedroom, so I wouldn't have to cart the finished product around. Imagine how much I laughed, when attempting to screw the drawer sliders into one of the sides, I went to pick the side up off the floor.....and couldn't. First reaction was "christ, this is heavy". This soon turned to horror as I realised it'd screwed it into my nice new floor!

Feck me thats a point.

Will have to check the XS to see if its worth it.

Not overly keen on clamiing insurance for small things.

Thanks

Me neither, but accidental damage is, after all, one of the reasons why you pay for insurance.

A mate who works in insurance once told me that the most common fraudulent household claim is paint on a carpet...

Just re-decorated, but thought they would keep the old carpet, realise it actually looks pretty shabby with the new decor so...

oops...!

And if you're making a claim for one carpet (and losing the excess) you might as well have two, so remember to drop the tin of paint at the doorway while touching in the doorframe and you'll get the hall carpet at the same time...

And if you have a pet or small child, make sure they manage to walk through it while you are "rushing to get a towel" and then walk it right through the house and upstairs to the bedroom....

Just make sure your two year old doesn't leave footprints that are too far apart or it might look as though you had just pressed their shoes into the paint and done it yourself...

And make sure and use gloss, not water-based paints which can be professionally cleaned out...

Not that you would ever consider doing such a thing yourself...

wink

Cheers, im going to borrow a carpet cleaner tomorrow and see if i can get it looking any better.

I managed to get it looking not too bad, but needs further work.

The carpet is nearly new and is pretty good quality so i would rather keep it!!

Will contact the insurance company if i cant sort it myself.

Cheers.
