My 'old Honda' expert friend said "think about your license" before I purchase my 'new' 23 yre old VF1000R Honda. "Wot the f's he on about"? I thought. After a 300 mile train ride to Brighton from Manchester I picked it up. First 10 miles trying to be sensible on my 'new bike', I was a bit disappointed. Same hp as my CBR, but 'lifeless'. I woke up this morning at mummy's and took it for a spin round the local area. "fk me" the bike said-"wot's wrong with you." "Wot" I said,-you overheated on me 200 miles ago, and you felt a little underpowered. Down a gear and take it out on the old bds in front. Then there was a long bend "fkin give it rice" the bike said. It's 25kg' heavier than the cbr but st! It talks! It cost over twice as much as a cbx of the same year. Now I am beginning to learn why! The amount of money spent on making this bike was for research in order to make a rider win mid80's endurance racing so that Honda could mass market the vf1000f! This bike must be treated in respect of your licence! It is not happy below 7000 revs! It begs you to hammer it! I was a little upset about the scratches (wimp) at first, but now I'm begining to respect this very heavy, super nimble machine. If you meet me on the road, ( the last 60 ramaining VF1000R's are immac in bike collections)--UK. Please don't provoke a race cos when I'm on it,- i'm up for it!--P.S. Don't want to spoil the fun!!!!!! (R1551.--bbbshoot

Nice bike. Always wanted the 1000R.
My 1st big bike after passing test in '89 was a VF400F. Loved that bike.
I also owned a VF500FII in the red/white/ blue colours.

Enjoy that mutha! Vee Four engines are sublime.
