Leather Trousers
Discussion
Whats up with the very high waist on leather bike trousers? The ones I tried would make you look like some rapper (with the crotch around your knees) if you had the waist in the normal place.
To get it to fit right the waist is higher than Simon Cowell would be comfortable with.
Is this normal? Do you need to wear braces to have them fit right? Or is it just me or the trousers I tried?

Couple of things - first, it'll stop you getting soaked/cold if (when) your jacket rides up a bit as you bend forwards on the bike. Secondly, if you come off, and you're not zipped or bibbed up, you could lose the skin around your midrif.
Go for hipsters, and you'll be cold/miserable/possibly very sorry.

The fit of trousers/leathers varies greatly between manufacturers, e.g. Dainese may fit you, whereas Alpinestars don't.I used to sell Scott leathers way back in the day which were a really wierd fit - only suitable for tall, lean types. Quite a rarity in Cornwall as I remember... The only way 'round this is to try different brands or go for made to measure kit.
The other thing worth being aware of is that if you are looking at a pukka 2 piece suit, generally the "join" is made fairly high. The jacket on its own will seem very short in the body and the waist of the trouser very high. This is so that the weak point, the zip, is situated away from the small of the back so that it is not being "pulled apart" so much.
