The jeans are a horrid cut. Really nasty. The cargo pants are ok. As for what they do in a spill, no idea. The armour you get with them is ste, don't bother with it. I got some Keprotec armour which i used to hold on my knees with tubie grips. Worked great.

...and conversely, I've had a pair for 8 months now that I've been really impressed with. The cut for me is fine, not exaclty the most 'designer' looking things but that's not really the point. When I just want to go out on the bike without getting all togged up, these afford that bit more protection than just a pair of jeans.

Granted, there is no armour but the Kevlar sections cover the important bits (arse and middle of the legs). Haven't had to use them in anger yet though so can't comment on their effectiveness in a crash, but I'm sure they wouldn't be in business if they didn't work. If I'm going any longer distance though or high speeds then I do tend to chuck on leathers or some such.

As I say, I've been chuffed with mine, biggest problem is that they have faded slightly although I have been wearing them pretty much all through the winter...

Bit pricey mind. Just try them on in a shop before buying as they seem to be a good or a bad fit for people. I got mine from 'On Yer Bike'

Everything I was going to say. Very happy with mine, been living in them practicaly. I too opt for leathers for more spirited journeys.

And what holds the kevlar bits together?

Denim; that's what.

Nothing more than holes wrapped in cotton.

So when it gets wet, you get wet.
When it gets cold, you get cold.
When you fall off, the denim rips to shreds and you're left with beautiful kevlar patches to put in a frame and hang on the wall next to your bandages.

Waste of money; buy some leathers.
A cheap pair will be exactly the same price and give you ten times the protection, keep you warmer, resist showers and take exactly the same time to put on.

If you want to not look like a biker, they're fine; just don't ride a bike.
If you want to be safe on the bike, you're going to have to dress (and look) like a biker.

jeans+fabsil=waterproof(ish) well as waterproof as my leathers anyway

for a spirited sunday ride leathers, nipping down the shops is where things like this come in, same speeds but more protection than your average moped rider

just how is a biker meant to dress anyway? full 1 piece leathers wouldn't look right on someone riding a harley

When i started riding i was more concerned about looks than now. Ok, i still want to look kinda cool, but I don't compromise what i consider safe any more. What this means is having an excuse to buy more stuff, so you're covered for all weathers and can mix up styles (lame argument, but it's the only shopping i ever enjoy). Anything you put on your legs takes the same time. As for popping out to the shops, i put my leathers on, go for a 15 minute blast to make it worth while, and get the milk on the way back!!

I've got leathers, as well as a set of the cargo pants version of draggin jeans.

Really quite impressed with draggin jeans, as is my mate who's put the bike down the road twice in his. His, aside of being a bit dirty, look brand new. This was after a 30mph lowside, obviously there's going to be higher speed spills on bikes but so far I've no reason to doubt them.

Bloody comfy, and for the days when you just can't be arsed to put your leathers on, or if you're only going a short distance they're ideal. Stick some knox armour in them and I'd be happy to do long distances in them.

Don't get me wrong I'd sooner have my leathers on, wouldn't leave home without them if I knew I was going to be tonking on all day, but draggin jeans are a bloody good idea and work well, certainly a hell of a lot better than regular denim which seems to be the normal alternative! smile

just my tuppence worth

I've had Draggin Jeans for a few years. Beats leathers for commuting. As said, not the best cut, but then I'm not a fashion victim. I've also got a pair of Hood jeans and a pair of Hardas. The Hardas have some Knox-type armour around the knee, and Kevlar 'flaps', much like the Draggin ones, but the Hood ones have have Kevlar all over the place, and feel better put together. Only drawback I've found is that I wasn't allowed to wear them on a trip to The 'Ring. I got pulled up at the barrier and turned back.
