Yet another trip to the local bike accessories emporium this evening, to purchase some more kit ready for my upcoming DAS biggrin

Some of you may remember that I was thinking of this lid:

Unfortunately the XR1000 Voyager TC5 is not available in the UK until June. Not one to be set back by such an event, I seized the moment and used it as a "reason" to invest my hard earned in this little beauty, the XSpirit Vermeulen TC-2. "It'll be safer dear, honest":

I also purchased a Teknic Stinger textile jacket; fits very well and feels well made:

I'm looking forward to wearing both for my upcoming DAS! biggrin

As always, sterling service from the chaps at BykeBitz - thanks guys smile

I thought of you on my way to the shop actually - drove past a pub with a sign outside saying "Chilli night every Thursday". Had a little chuckle to myself hehe

I'll get my coat now... getmecoat

Nice work. Payed my first visit to HG yesterday to try on helmets. Looks like I have an Arai head, which I guess is good, and they certainly seemed the most comfortable. Another brand, Schuberth, seemed very good also with excellent sound insulation. Not tried a Shoei yet.

I think ultimately it'll come down to an Arai, though which one is hard to decide. Apart from removable linings on the more expensive models I can't see what I get when I double the spend. They weigh about the same and seem constructed from similar materials. Hmmmm.

Hi mate -

You'll get extra ventilation, removable liners/cheek pads and the helmet itself will often be constructed from different material. Mine has some carbon fibre in it biggrin Just about everything in my Shoei is removable for washing or cleaning.

On the more expensive models, the visors may be easier to change - the Shoei one takes 5 seconds.

If you can afford a more expensive lid, do it - IMHO it isn't worth cutting corners with a lid.

Nice lid. Same as mines, except it's the bright yellow one smile

Be sure to use the pinlock anti fog insert. Without it, it mists up like you wouldn't believe even with all the vents open. Left mines on the clear visor but went out last night on the Tinted (without fog insert), had to go back home to swap after 5mins.

Beautiful aren't they! I did say to the guy that I should have two, one to wear and one to put on the shelf and admire! smile

Thanks for the advice on the pinlock....

Completed my shopping for textile gear today - wanted to get kitted out with weatherproof gear; looking at the forecast I didn't fancy being in jeans for the remainder of my DAS! eek

These are my new trousers, Teknic "Sprint" trousers - to go with the jacket above. The braces are removable before you lot start! hehe

I'll sort out my leathers when I have my licence and the weather improves.
