Chaps - ordered my new Z750 a week or so ago, and expecting delivery at the weekend. Getting excited about it!! :-)

Passed my test in Oct 1999 and bought an SV650 immediately. For reasons that I won't bore you all with, I sold it six months later and haven't owned a bike since. Got the bug again now i've moved to Scotland and all those highland roads!

Anyway, on to the subject; I was thinking insurance was going to be a nightmare...it's quite a powerful bike (to me anyway) and I've not ridden regularly for 7 years. Also, I live in a flat so the bike will be parked in a shared car park. I also didn't want to mention a chain/lock because that would mean I'd have to chain it wherever I went and I can't be arsed with that. I will lock it when it's at home but not everytime I get off it on a ride! And that made a big difference to everyone's quote...changing the premium by as much as £200 in one instance...

...except with Quinn. Their quote was the cheapest in the first instance of all the companies...£394 comprehensive. And the lowest excess at £150. I added the Kawasaki's factory fit immobilisor as the sole security device...and told them about the car parking arrangements with no chain mentioned...in fact I phoned them to confirm that the lack of a chain/lock would not compromise me in a claim - they said since it wasn't mentioned they couldn't escape paying out in the event of it being stolen. And the premium stayed the same!

Obviously I'm skeptical about the quality of their service in the event of a claim...Does anyone have any experience of using them, especially claims against a comprehensive policy?

Cheers,

J.
