I've manage to get hold of a virtually new pair of M4 retro drag slip-ons for my ZZR1400. However, I only have the two pipes, no fitting kit etc. Will I be able to source what I need off the shelf with regards to any bits I need to fitthese or will I need specific parts?

I need to do this over the next week, so getting anything from the M4 in the US is a non-starter due to the lack of time.

These replace the standard silencers, are slip-ons and not a full system. Anyone got any experience of fitting these types of pipes (slip-ons)?

Take them to a powerflow specialist who will make custom fit link pipes to fit them?

Why would they need link pipes? On the original installation they didn't have them, just a straight swap for the standard cans. The standard cans have about 1.5ft of pipe after the them (all one piece). The slip-ons are the same length. Just want to know what probable bits i would need. Jubilee clips, sealing rings? don't know.

I'm due to take my bike to get a remap when they're fitted next week, would they be able to sort out anything I need. I haven't called them, will do that tomorrow, just wanted to see if I could find anything out today. Thanks for the replies.

Not sure if I am misunderstanding, apologies if I am, but are you saying the link pipes (or equivalent of) are welded to both the original and aftermarket cans?

If so you should just need either jubilee clips or springs dependent on how they attach, and exhaust hangers if it doesn't come with those.

Not sure what you mean by link pipes. The new cans are slightly megaphone like tapering to a straight pipe. It looks like this should 'slip on' to the OEM exhaust pipe once the original cans are removed. Not sure where a link pipe would go, there aren't any other openings on the end tube of the new cans. There might be a link pipe on the original system that is left after the original cans are removed but the original cans & new cans join after this I believe.

Well, not with my bike at the moment (in another country). Here is a pic of what they look like when installed, not sure it's of much help but they do look good smile

on the upper left click on Sportbike exhausts

then scroll down the exhaust company logos until you see M4 then click Kawasaki in the list next to the M4 logo.

I just dont see any point in buying jusy slip ons on their own , unless your sole aim is to disrupt the running of the bike and make more noise

I'm getting the bike remapped once they're fitted, bike already has a PCIII installed. I got the exhausts for free, so why not try them? If I don't like them, just re-install the standard ones and the standard map.

The link pipe is a short piece of pipework that is normally used to connect aftermarket cans to the original system. I think in those ones you have, if they are slip ons, there is no link pipe (it is all in one). If not, it's one hell of a link pipe, since it seems to go right under the bike and presumably to the headers...?

ah, see what you mean by link pipe now. Well, in that case there is no link pipe, it's an end can plus piping all in one. Therefore, it looks like I need some kind of clamp (maybe the original that's there already). The end mount (or hanger?) looks like it uses an existing mounting near the pillion footpeg.

Sounds about right, though I don't see any jubilee clip, etc on that picture which is strange.
