Track training and Almeria race circuit
Discussion
Well, I've just gotten back from my first Spanish track day and it was fooking ace
I did 2 days at Almeria, it's well worth the trip for anyone who's been thinking about doing a foreign track day.
Here's a hearty recommendation for Mick Cheshire / Bikes Del Sol for getting some instruction as well. I'd done a couple of days with the California Superbike School, which was fine, but I'm not a natural talent and Mick did a very good job of one-to-one instruction which was a real big help for a thickie like me to start working out this track riding thing
I've still got a loooong way to go, but here's a couple of before and after shots for how I came along with just one days instruction.
Here's me on the last track day I did before Almeria, stiff as a board and sat bolt upright like a sack of spuds on top of the bike

Still need to stick my knee out and get down and forward a bit more, so it's off to Silverstone on May 4th if anyone else is around?

Sounds like you had fun, I must get myself there as the circuit is only 15 mins away from my house, problem is I´ve sold the sportsbike and got a fazer 600 now, I reckon I could still have a giggle on it though
Get down there! If I lived 15 minutes from that circuit I'd need a 2nd mortgage for the track fees by now

Most of the circuit is quite technical with flowing corners, so you'd defo have fun even on the Fazer. I rented one of Mick's R6, and it was plenty. You'll just have to make sure you crouch down on the long back straight

I think I will, I´m going for a rideout tomorrow and will have a look at the circuit in the morning, its funny I used to live within an hour of Valencia and Albacete and never got to either for a track day, watched plenty of racing there though.
You are right about having to crouch on the straight, although I have seen 140 on a good day, do you think I should take the wingrack and panniers off before I go?

Hey, I don't suppose you could set fire to that speed camera on the road away from the circuit could you? That damn thing nearly had me on the way back into Almeria town.
Very sneaky in that low profile shape and camo green colour
