Direct Access mini-blog - lesson 2
Discussion
Had my 2nd Direct Access lesson this morning - still on the 125. Went much better than the first one - definitely thinking a bit more about what matters now I can cope with the controls a bit better. Only 1 stall this morning compared to about 20 on my last lesson
The U-turn still looks to be a challenge - though that seems to be the case for practically all learners. Balancing the three things - throttle, clutch and rear brake is bloody tough. Apparently the bike does have to be driven around and not coasted around though LOL. Shame cos I can coast it easily
Test is now booked for May 27th - the earliest date I could get. Bit of an arse as that means rather spread out lessons between now and then. It's hard to resist buying an old 125 to practice on, but since I know I'll only need the thing for a few weeks it hardly seems worth it.
Need to buy my own gloves before the next lesson. The borrowed ones from the school left my hands smelling a bit, errr, agricultural!!

Well done mate, keep going
I've got Rev-It gloves and they have proven to be comfortable. Although they are leather/summer gloves, they have coped with recent rain fairly well; I just let them dry out naturally at room temperature if needed.
Any particular reason why you couldn't get an earlier test than the end of May? Did you only want to go to a particular test centre, or are things getting heavily booked up already?

The place I'm training at uses 3 centres and that was the earliest date they could get me. Maybe they have a low quota or something, but I'd get your retest scheduled asap to be on the safe side
