Anyone got any experiences? I'm hunting for new leathers at the moment and can't afford a bespoke fitting service. Budget is absolute max of £500, but I'd rather be paying less.

I'm looking for a jacket + trousers, rather than a 2 piece.

So far:

A* Dyno - gack quality leather imo and too 'now' if you catch my drift.

Dainese - nice fit but pricey. £320 for the jacket but that's existing stock - will go up to £380 as they have run out of all black in the jacket I like and new stock is subject to a price hike.

Arlen Ness - not keen on the looks.

Rev'It (Fowlers) - please, I couldn't wear leathers with 'Rev It' on them.

So I went in to HG and actually was impressed with the fit and quality of a few different jackets and trousers, as well as the price being excellent.

At the mo they are favourite - anyone got some? How have they held up?

I've got HG leather jeans. Not sure which ones (I'll check and post link if they still do them) but they're great.

I had a 30mph lowside on a KTM supermotard day and went over the over bars in the city and they held out with no more than minor scuffs. The stitching is fine still, so I'll definately get another set when I get too fat for these smile

I've got an HG PSXII leather jacket, Bought s/h but nearly new on Ebay for £28, but in really good condition, and feels very well made and comfortable. Definitely worth a look.

Their stuff seems a bit more, how do you say, "mature" in styling, which suited my shrinking violet tendencies. I couldn't imagine wearing something with Rev It on either... hehe

Mate of mine bought a <£300 HG 2 piece a several years back after a Ride test rated it better than my >£500 Belstaff Cybersuit. HG kit in general seems to be pretty well made. If you can wait a while you'll often get some good deals on leathers at bike shows, but best to go for reputable brands if you do that as there is some cheap rubbish about.

Yeah I'm not into the power ranger look at all... they do have some nice subtle designs which I think look pretty good.

Cheers for feedback peeps.

I have REV IT trousers and after having a spill they have stood up incredibly well, not even bruised my legs.

Must admit they do look ok - there's a nice ventilated type 2-piece in Fowlers:

Just can't get past the name! hehe

Am thinking of one of these:

Its got a removable waterproof lining so useful for those Lemans jaunts smile

Spada leathers are very cheap....£300ish. No idea if they are any good or not...gotta be better than jeans and T-shirt at any rate smile

Dainese do something around the £550 mark...can't remember if its a 1 or 2 piece...have a look on the website.

....or wait for the next bike show and get a full set of leathers for 20p.

Interesting. You bought leathers from a show before? Major discounts to be had?

sunday afternoon seemed best when i was there last year. i think they'd rather sell them than repack them in the van.

There is a lot of crap there but there are also a lot of bargains. Many of the really good deals are "last years models" but if you are not a slave to fashion ..... (and, after all, you'll keep the kit for more than a year anyway!)

3 years ago I picked up a set of BMW boots for £40. RRP was £275 and they had been in the dealers the week before the show for £180 as "end of line". At the same show my brother bought a set of leathers that were "last years design". They were £550 the year before and he got them for £125. Both the boots and the leathers were simply plain black so it’s not as if we’re riding around with a 5 year old band tour T-shirt on!

Got my Dianese Leathers from the NEC a few years ago (about £200 off RRP), they do me well for track days and hard riding , but for everyday commute have a set of RST leathers which rock and have held up well after a visit from Mr Taxi (bast*d) and a slight slide on the road. My textiles are HG though and I seriously rate my Cruise jacket for last winter (with a set of Halvarsson trousers and a set of Rev'it fareinheit gloves).
