Not sure if this has come up before but here we go...

Ordered a new bit of stainless down pipes for my CBR and spent a whole lot of personell time trying to get them fitteg, finally after a bit of tweeking here and there they finally did.

Now the bike went in to the garage due to another fault and once that was fixed the garage noticed that an inner weld had failed causing a rattle.

Am I wrong in asking the supplier to foot the £40 bill to remove and replace the pipes (down pipes still under warranty as only 2 months old)??

Has any one had a similar experiance to this as I just want the bike back ont he road as I have now missed a dam good bit of weather and slowly getting annoyed!

Cheers,

Rich

Certainly worth a try, especially if you dont mention you fitted them yourself. I wouldnt count on it though - presumably £40 is about right for the per hour cost of removing and refitting?

Yes, you can claim the cost of the work. Check out 48B2b in the link below:

Nice one, will sort out the replacement first then hound until I am able to gain the cost back...always worth trying even though its only £40, every little helps, specially when its an item out of my own hands.

If the tweeking (sic) included forcing the pipes to fit, I reckon you're on your own. Are you sure you didn't damage them when installing? And why is a rattle stopping you from using the bike? Presumably you were happy to ride it before you took it to the garage for the other work?

No, the tweeking was only make a fixing hole a little larger and a little pressure to 'marry up', taking in to account this was supposed to be a direct fit btw!

The rattle has not stoped me from riding as noted its in for another reason but the mechanic picked up the noise and identified a failed internal weld which rattle at certain reves.

Seeing as I paid nearly £200 for the pipes I dont think its a lot to expect them to last more than a couple of months.
