Fantastic ride this morning in perfect weather. Aside from getting a tad close to the vehicle in front my instructor had nothing else to say apart from keep it up. They let me ride one of the CBF500s today which was WAY better than the CB I had last week. Still two weeks to go till my test - starting to get impatient now smile

I'm thinking a CBF would make a perfect first bike - my instructor advised the 600 if I go that way. Any other serious contenders to consider before I splash the cash?

Old CBR600F? Great bikes, cheap enough for you to drop and not cry too much..

Isn't a CBF600 quite heavy (or at least that's what I've heard?).

My money is likely to be going on a CB600F Hornet; got a soft spot for Hondas and everyone I have spoken to rates the Hornet as a good choice for a new rider.

Good luck when the test comes smile

Depends what type of bikes you would like to eventually get into. When I passed my DAS last October, my intention was to get into a sportsbike but was in two minds whether to make the jump or get into something more friendly like an SV650 or Street Triple.

When the time came in March to get a bike, I went with my heart and bought a K7 GSX-R600 - it might have a steeper initial learning curve but 1 month on I'm loving every minute of it biggrin Now riding the bike feels second nature and whatever you decide to get, just take your time getting used to it and you'll be fine.

Thanks all - can hardly wait. Next lesson isn't till next Monday and that seems AGES away at the moment smile Oh well, hopefully it will all be a distant memory in a couple of weeks.
