Been away for a while, so thought I'd say hello again...recognise a few faces (well names really!) and lots of new ones!!

Now have officialy ridden more miles in the US on Harleys than in the UK on 'proper' bikes...out for a ride this weekend though, so hope I remember how to do it...apparently we have 'bends' here!! smile

Virgil said in another post

'Have been out in Chicago for 6 months and once it thawed out, rented a Harley a few times for some rides out. '

Been out in Chicago since early Feb...been back a few times to make sure Mrs Virgil was washing the car properly, but other than that working there. Been back now two weeks and just getting used to English life again :-) |It's gonna feel like the day after my test when I get back on the bike...only ever done about a 1000 miles here since passing the test!

Sounds tough mate!!

Na, don't think so. I was soooo close to buying it, but then took the GSXR to France on the track after having the suspension set-up properly. I loved it soooo much, I don't wanna lose it now!

Fair play...was tempted to bring a 1098 back with me from the states, but was not there long enough to avoid paying duty bringing it in and made it not much cheaper than here...gorgeous bike though...one day soon!

Gixers and other jap bikes were literally less in $ than they were in £ here!!!

So the Gixer is still going well?

Very tempted to trade in the Triumph for a Duke 998s or 2005 onward 999...that Italian bug just won't go away!!!

Too well. I'd love to have nice loud twin for a while, but know I'd be slower on the track. Not sure I can justify having 2 bikes though.

Have you ridden a Duke before? I tested both the 848 and the 1098, and was blown away by the 1098.

Had a 748s which I LOVED - so easy to ride...and test rode a 999 - stupidly quick :-)

Kind of torn between the damned outright beauty of the 998 family or the newerness of the 999. Can't really justify going to a 1098 with the amount I ride!!
