A carbon-fibre Desmosedici GP9 Sat will be used by Mika Kallio and Niccolo Canepa in 2009, after they were confirmed as Ducati satellite riders for next season.

Pramac Racing –the team currently running the Alice Team in MotoGP- have announced the signings of Mika Kallio and Niccolo Canepa for the 2009 season.

Kallio moves up to the premier class after two years in 250cc, whilst Canepa has been working as Ducati´s test rider for the past season. Both will have a carbon chassis-equipped Ducati Desmosedici GP9 Sat machine, similar to that used by factory team riders Casey Stoner and Nicky Hayden, for the upcoming campaign.

Pramac Racing Team Principal Paolo Campinoti explained his decision to go with the two young riders, and also paid tribute to the present Alice Team lineup, stating that:

`We are very happy to have two very promising riders in Kallio and Canepa. Mika is doing really well in 250cc and we are confident that he will be able to continue his positive trend in the top class. Niccolò has shown his abilities on the Ducati Desmosedici during this season´s tests and this has convinced Ducati and us to let him step up into MotoGP.

Together with Ducati we have agreed to create a sort of `Junior Team´. A part of me is sad that we are not able to continue with our current riders, Toni Elias and Sylvain Guintoli, because they have done a lot for the Alice Team during this season. I want to publically thank them for their work and for bringing us to date, two unforgettable podiums. I wish them a future rich in success and happiness.´

Whilst Canepa has already gained plenty of experience with 800cc machinery, it is as yet unknown as to when Kallio will make his testing debut with a MotoGP bike.
