In the process of getting my bike test and I'm at that stage where I'm obsessed with looking at bikes and learning as much about them as I can. Is there a "show us your bike" thread already that has been lost in the sands of time anywhere for me to day-dream while looking at?

If not I thought I be very presumptous and assume that you all have plenty of pics of your gleaming bikes just waiting to be posted on line for my to ogle over.

Please post below and a bit of a discripton / review of your bike would be great aswell. Hopefully I'm not the only person who would like to see a thread like this and it takes off.

Don't be sad Chilli me old buddy pal. I'm sure you'll get your leg over and be riding a fine thumping steed soon...

Anyway, here is a pic of my bike for you OP. It is neither racey nor mega powerful. It is more pipe and slippers with a bit of added cardigan thrown in. I like it however and it's all mine!

smile

I've also just found a cracking 'Don't look at me you ' picture of Chilli, but I don't tthink I'll post that up...

hehe

Is it really sad then that I am 23 and would love to spend a summer month crusing about sunny parts of Europe on one of those! The sign in the background says more about that bike that the picture of the bike itself.

Planning on getting a sports bike myself however as I couldn't afford to take a European road trip but someday I will!

I'm only just thirty and I love my GS! That pic was taken on the great PH BB trip to Spain and Portugal in April this year. We had a great time and I hope we do another one! The BMW is awesome for long distance riding, I've been all over the UK on it. When I'm back in the UK in the New Year I shall be heading to southern Europe on it for a nice relaxing mooch about again. I can't wait!

I also fancy a sportier bike, but not being home very much means having two bikes is pretty pointless at the moment.

What bike are you after?

I can see why you hang out here rather than on UKGSers, you appear to be missing the auxillary spotlights, aluminium top box, tank panniers and numerous other farkles you need to register over there. biggrin
Loved the 1150 when I tried it, not tried the 1200 yet though.

I won't bother with too many pics of my bike, it classes as bike skank rather than bike porn biggrin Have some scenery porn that just happens to have my bike in it instead.

Or do you prefer your porn a bit kinky?

I would quite happily ride any of the 600 sport bikes (gsx-r, r6, zx6r, 675, cbr600) but I'm planning on getting my test out of the road and taking a few test rides on the above as I believe that biking is 100% about the feel of a bike and 0% about what it looks like. Plus I hear often enough that I will scare the st outa myself and then die if I buy a 600 so I wana check that theory out before spending a couple of grand on one. At the minute I am trying my hardest not to set my heart on one bike as I would hate to try it, not be 100% happy but buy it because it has became "my dream bike".

Currently I work hard and it will be a weekend play thing for doing Sunny Sunday laps of the country, so an involving ride is much higher up the list than commuting ability, mpg, etc. I've had fast cars from a young age and reckon I'm sensible enough and aware enough of my capabilities (and smart enough to decide if I couldn't trust myself after a test ride) to handle a 600 so I wouldn't want to turn this into another "am I wise getting an r6" thread.

Spot on.

Also re your Euro trip comments earlier you'd be suprised how cheap it is if you compare it to the cost of more conventional holidays. If you want to tour on a budget fuel is generally your biggest cost, cheap hotels are all over the place in France and fairly plentifull elsewhere in Europe. If you're with a few mates camping is fun and very cheap, though it does mean more luggage on the bike, though how much that effects you does depend on the bike. With full camping kit on mine I only really notice the weight when manouvering at low speeds on steep ground.

I definitly intend to and the few European driving trips I've been on I've loved. It's mostly time off work that I can't afford. I can't imagin any better way to experience a country than riding through it on a bike.

......Someday!

I've tried to avoid the weirdy beardy brigade if I'm going to be honest, most of them have full BMW endorsed and badged clothing too which I always find a little OTT!

The 1200 is a lovely ride, loads of low down torque. It's also a lot light than the 1150 which helps when you have to push or manouvre the bloody things in tight spaces!

You know if you get a Trumpet you'll be adored here? hehe

Actually my next bike is likely to be a Daytona or a Street Triple R, both fabulous bikes and from what I've heard they also make good first bikes (I believe a PHer got a Street Triple as his first bike). I suppose it all depends on your budget, confidence will build with practice and whatever you buy you will no doubt love!

Love the look of the new 675 but they are a bit pricey. In the back of my head there's a plan to spend about £2-3k on a bike for the first year and spend a good bit of money on kit, then when I've hopefully learnt not to drop that bike get myself something nice like a new shape 675
