I'm after one, just so i can do chain tightening etc on the bike.
Don't really want to buy a top of the range one & spend £££'s on one but also don't want to buy one that's going to snap when i put it on the stand.

Any recommendations?

Come-on man,

Its a stand, it goes on your swingarm or if you have a SSSA in the spindle hollow.

What do you need to know, 40.00 will get you a cheap one or a bit more for an expensive one.

Foldable ones and cheap ones wobble a bit more on average but it makes no difference!

Man-up and learn to think on your feet a bit!

^^ Abba stand all the say. worth the extra and will last you many years and many different bikes. including a single sided swingarm like I have. plus a bike it headstock stand and you won't need hardly anything for many years to come

I think you're being a little harsh, in my experience there is a lot of ste on the market and the guy is only looking for rec's. I have had an Oxford which was poor and very wobbly, I now have an ally all welded from Motrax which whilst expensive is excellent, but you will need rear bobbins

No probs, cant comment on the Abba that the others have mentioned but I can vouch for the Motrax, top bit of kit and worth the cash, just dont buy one you have to assmeble yourself as IT WILL be wobbly e.g. Oxford, as with most things you get what you pay for

I've got a cheap one and it's been fine for years and years. You do have to be confident using it though or you'll drop the bike if you mince about. An abba stand looks more stable at a price. If I need to lift the whole bike off the ground I use my engine crane.

If you could get to West London, I have a spare front and rear that I no longer need. They are the cheeper type (Micron I think) but do the job fine. Shoot me a PM if it's of interest.

slight thread hijack, but I could do with a stand either headstock or more likely fork locating to pick the front of my M695.. I've got the bike on the abba, but I'd like to be able to get the front wheel off the ground, for cleaning and when its laid up like at the moment..

any good cheep recommendations there...

One of the things i like about the abba, is that i can fit it to the bike outside and then wheel the bike in the garage with it attatched and then just whizz it up, great where there is limited space.. i do the same getting it out. leaver the abba back, wheel the bike out then leaver it up again to check everything before i go out...

for track use though i expect a traditional stand with bobbins on the swing arm would be quicker and easier though

ok, ok, i was harsh, apologies!

Avoid Micron stands, they are a bit toss!

Also check the length of the stand if you have space restrictions.......some are quite long behind the bike!

+1 for the Abba stand - they really are excellent, and very well made.

As for lifting the front, have you looked at the Abba Front Lift, or would that not fit the twin?

ETA - Read T595 for some reason, oops.

For track days I used to have a cheap one, Oxford or some such piece of rubbish but I now have the stainless Harris stand which looks like the ali one in this post.

Everything about it better . . . more stable, easier to lift (even use it on the busa which is a fat lardy old thing) and the prongs stay in place so less chance of scratching the swingarm.

https://www.harris-performance.com/website/acatalo... - the stainless steel prong type stand for £58 half way down the page.

I've had these 2 stands for years, the bike is very stable while on the stands and you can get your front wheel or forks out if you so wish with a set up like this.

The front stand comes with different sized pins to fit into the hole in the bottom yoke.
