then check this "Bike" rack out, biker banter, pedal power, general gassing, it could fit the bill for any of them but in the end I decided it was so sureal that it deserved to go in the lounge. It was spotted at a cycle track in North London, the guy converted some bits he had off of a car rack and says it makes no noticable difference to handling or stability!!!!

One must ask the question, why?

The second bike is lacking an engine.

As far as I know, motorbikey types don't enjoy the stress involved in moving oneself with ones own effort.

Innit.

Cool and the gang. I'm sure I've seen something like that on the back of an enduro bike as well. Some bloke used to head out into Moab with his mountain bike on the back of his KTM (or similar).

hehe As much as I hate to admit it, that was might first thought too.

.. my second thought was: that thing is going to end up in a right state if he likes getting his knee down!

It's a VFR so the owner is likely to be 80 years old or more...

There was a guy pitching up to the London - Brighton ride with one like that, I only saw a flash but was a red bike so could well have been the same one.

not likely to alter handling stability very much - VFR weighs about 230kg dry so additional weight of cycle will be barely noticeable. Wind catches the side of the VFR enough as it is - will pass through the cycle so much more easily.

Can't be worse than a pillion passenger. Aero drag would be a bigger concern but if only for short journeys may be ok.

I see it more as a persons refusal to get a boring car for the purpose.

lets not forget that people would think nothing of putting a pillion on the back. Mountain bike = 12kg, Pillion.. several times that.

I don't see the problem. As several have said, the bike would weigh much less than a pillion.

For some people a motorbike is their only form of transport. Kinda limits your options if you want to transport your bicycle!

I personally wouldn't bother. My nan only ever said one sensible thing, and that was, "cycling is just a way of knackering your legs to give your arse a free ride".
