Buel isn't doing well as a sales proposition, unlike HD which is rather profitable. Losing money fast, and needs sales to avoid going under.

What ARE you on about mate?

Not doing well???
You kidding me right?

saleen05>

I ride a Buell XB9R, have a full race kit, bike goes like a rocket, fantastic round the twisties, but if you want more than 140mph then forget it.
On the other hand if your not bothered and are more into out cornering every other bike on the road then you cant go far wrong for the money.

Short fuel range mind, I get about 110miles from a tank, ride it as hard as you like, the days of the early buells falling to bits is long behind em.

Fantastic bike.

I got some pics on www.steviejay69.50megs.com

Oh yea sorry forgot to say, I'm 6'2, fit quite comfortable, even with the wife on the back she's 5'10 !!

The race kit is the buell one, you get a new management chip, K&N filter and twin exit underbody exhaust in silver, it sounds pretty loud, I'll get a sound clip for ya, sounds pretty mental, imagine a V8 with the whole exhaust removed, its pop's and spits on the change down sounds beautiful.

They cost about 600-700 quid for the lot.
I got the xb12r airbox cover too, its different inside and pushes air into the engine faster than the xb9 box.

Oh and by the way......NICE F'IN CAR BUD!!
lOOKS FANTASTIC!!

I posted on here ages ago about a 9R, I test rode one from HD in Dorking and I f****** loved it!
But, I am 6'2" and mostly legs and I found it too small, my knees extended past the tank/frame cutouts. I could ride it obviously but it would have been a pain for owning one.
It had the sport exhaust also and cracked and popped all the time, great for scaring old people
It took a little getting used to though, I kept wanting to rev it past it's very low redline (and I've only got a twin anyway! not a screaming 4 pot)
The brakes were awesome but the gearchange was pants.
I also thought it was gonna shake itself to bits at idle.
I really really want one but I just needed something a little bit more practical for commuting and couldn't afford one as a second bike (so the wife tells me )

Yea I hear ya on the idle thing, lol........its sits there and vibrates like a good'un, you have to face it up hill if you leave it by its self, or it literally "walks" off the stand.
Its fine when the engine is spinning though, the vibrations are minimal.

Clutch seemed heavy to start with but I put silicone down the Line (from the leaver end, where the cable is and it freed it up no end!!!

(top tip there)

Wonder if they could lower the foot pegs for ya??
I'm 6'2 but you must be built different cuz I fit on ok, it could be better but I love the bike so much I'm willing to live little things like that.

Off to Assen on it for the MOTOGP in June, 1000 mile round trip, will see how it stands up to that!!

The best thing about the bike is you could park it up next to a Ducati and everyone would wonder over to the XB9R, its a real crowd puller, I always get asked about the bike when I'm out, I gotta admit to loving the attention!!

You are referring to the bike and its performance. I was referring to the performance of the brand as a business concept. Look at any of the charts and sales arn't very high. Customs duty on import is very high, and their disctribution costs are going to be higher than some manufacturers due to fix cost / volume.

Like any business, if it don't make more income than expenses it's gonna fold sometime soon. When? I have no inside information.

Buel needs more people like you to own and publicise the bike.

I do see what you mean, and I have to say with the price of the buell its a much easier option to buy an R6 or CBR600RR, I do know what your saying, buell's aint for everyone, but thats what makes them special in my opinion, just riding to work today I never saw a single one, When I'm riding about I never seem to see them, however I did see a number of CBR's And Yam's, its horses for courses really.
4 Bikes filling up at the service station today, the usual nod's and hello's, the other guys trying to sneek a peek at what its all about, jumping on the thing and starting it up everyone looks over to see where the Harley Davidson is hiding....hahaha

Its a peach!

Saleen> the review is kinda true, read that a while ago, the XB range always does pretty well in reviews but they are always judged against Jap sports bikes because there is nothing out there quite like it to compare with.

You get the hard core test riders saying it lacks top end, well.........yea it does lack top end but the Torque is up there with the new 1000rr blade!!
It out handles most of those too, but get it on an open road and its stops at 140mph, I was doing 135mph just 20 minutes ago, first time I ever pushed the bike like that, and it tears up there like a rocket then stops, no fading and struggling to the top end, it just seems to just get there then nothing happens!!!???

Its like telling me "Go on the pussy, gimme another gear", but its only got 5 forward gears.....lol

Its a bike like no other, thats why I bought mine, I tricked up a honda hornet to make if different, spent 1000's on it to streetfighter it up, they call the XB a "Sports Fighter", I aint spent a single penny on this, it looks the part right out of the box.

Chuffed to bits with it.
