Just got a new Hornet..... Yummy, but doesn't that back end need sorting.

I am thinking undertray and a flip up plate

Anyone know where I can get one? bike2track seem to have disappeared.

I had a scoot round the net this arvo at work and it looks like their domain isn't anymore, and I couldn't find anyone else who makes them (in the UK)

You'll just have to wheelie past the tax machines

Made my own for the front of my Spyder using a stainless steel hinge and MTB gear-cable and outer.

How is the business plan coming along for the flip-up plates-I really need one and can find no current manufacturers! Thanks, Jim.

Yep ... I've come up with a design for a "flip-down" plate using exactly the same parts!

"Flip-down" is necessary to ensure that plod cant see that there is any mechanism there when they look closely.

He he!!

tonyrec, you must have not noticed we are talking about show use only, to avoid cameras taking our plates and using them to make false plates up or spreading them on the internet

and none of us even thought about road use..

Yeah mines a bike2track jobbie, ive been lucky tho as out of the other people who got 'em mine is the only one I know of that still works! (touches wood as he types)

Seriously I reckon there is a big marker for these, everyone who sees mine thinks its ace, figure out something for cars too (probabaly the type that ive heard of that uses LCD to obscure the plate at the flick of a switch is best) & you could be a on a gold mine.

You need this lizard to market it for you correctly tho ok.....

Gonna have a good look at your flipplate when I see you Alex - would quite like one of these.

Oh, and as for 'I wouldn't use it on the road', I would. Provided it wasnt illegal to have on the bike when 'unflipped', id have one. Maybe.

Was the solution for now. Yes, there is a plate in there somewhere

I haven't been pulled as yet, but if I do, I will have to come up with something "to protect your plates for track days"

I've come up with a design over my lunch hour for a flip plate thats compact, simple.......and probably won't work. Ill try and create a prototype anyway - it'll be fun

Never been pulled for mine in unflipped mode, & i've had it about 3+yrs, thing is tho as a copper mate said to me, if you were silly enough to be caught with it flipped, you could- if the copper feels like it, go to court & be had up for perverting the course of justice or some such, which is a really big deal, whereas having no plate at all (as longs as you werent doing 180 down the bypass or somat!) is no biggy as it could have just fallen off & you hadnt noticed, so a light wrist slap.

A 'mate' of mine fitted a Flip plate to his Ducati (for track use only) and it had a tendency to flip itself whilst riding, it seems that interference from the ignition coils etc. caused this anomaly - the problem was solved by re-routing and fitting a Ferrite core to the cable.

FYI 'he' removed it as 'he' was worried that it looked too 'dodgy'

Just thought this might be useful information

It might be worth noting that Bowden cables don't suffer from EMI
