help!
the rod that goes between the gear pedal and the engine is broke, because someone thought it would be a great idea to turn right without looking.
So this now means that i can't change gear, unless i actully reach down and push or pull the leaver, not the safest thing in the world.
So does anyone know of a shop that will have a rod in stock? Or am i going to have to get the train home tonight and leave the bike at work...
Thanks

yep it is a sachs.
I recommed brown packaging tape. I wrapped enough around there is hold it in place, bit like a plater cast for a broken upper arm.
Got me all the way home. I was even able to go from 1st to 5th and back down again. Just took it easy.
THinking about using it to get into work tomorrow as i really am not looking forward to getting up an extra 2 hours earlier just so that i can catch a train that is going to cost me £20 to get into London and back.
Just need something to re-inforce the tape like a really long cable tie to go round both ends. As i use the A2 all the way in i hardly have to change gear once i have got going.

It'll only do 15mph in top, so you may as well get off, begin pushing it at a gentle pace (1st), change into a brisk stroll (2nd) , then short shift all the way up the box to a gallop (6th). If you need to overtake, wind it on a bit more into a sprint (6th, but with more gas).
watch your brakes though. You may need a parachute.

Nothing exists on this planet that can't be fixed by gaffer tape, bailing twine or shock cord (or a combination of all three)

cheeky sod.

I have added a cable tie to the repair to reinforce the link. i think i might just see how far i can actully go with this before the tape breaks. haha.
Rode in today and might take it for a spin this saturday morning.

It's not really a safety critical part, so any bodge is good enough (as long as you are watching oout for that missed shift if ut lets go).
I'd araldite a splint to it. If you don't have anything that looks like it'll make a good splint, get yourself some brakle line, fit it round the break, and araldite that in place (filling the tube up first).
