Just to introduce myself....

I've liked this website for ages, and so finally decided to sign myself up. I love my classics, in fact with very few exceptions I don't find vehicles interesting at all unless they're at least fifteen years old. So yeh, guess I'd better introduce my ride....
This is my Yamaha XJ550. I love this machine so very much, so very very much. Yes, as you may have noticed it's a motorbike. People like motorbikes too on here, don't they??
I wonder how many of you were expecting an old Jag hehehe.......?
Also I must bring forth some respect to the MK3 Golf behind. This is my dad's car that gets thrashed and driven into the ground without really being looked after, serviced or even cleaned very often. 208,000 miles and counting...
I'm beginning to think that this isn't a car at all but a nuclear fallout shelter on wheels, such is the abuse the poor thing deals with daily!!

Don't you worry about the spelling police, I AM the spelling police!! I despise grammar mistakes and idiots hoo dink itz kewl 2 rite leik dis.
If you're not that great at grammar and spelling then that's fine, but people who deliberately spell things wrong because they think it looks cool really grind my gears........
As for this CW7 character, I'm sure I'll cross that bridge when I come to it....

The standard exhaust rotted through, so was replaced with a Motad 'Neta' which was not exactly earth shattering
I still have my original 4 into 2 exhaust but it's looking a bit grotty so my 4 into 1 motad may have to go on at some point. Which will be a shame, as I love the look and sound of the original system. Not enough bikes have twin exhausts in this day and age....

Yes it is (or rather was) shaft drive. Also had a larger headlight than the 550...apart from the extra few cc's I think that was all the difference there was between them.
The Motad 4-1 weakened the lower/mid range which I found a shame after owning it with the original exhaust for a year or so. I owned mine for about 2 years from 1985 (IIRC)

Yeah, I've been told that about fitting a motad too, and mid-range power isn't my bike's strongest suit anyway so I'd much prefer to keep the standard system. Mind you having said that it's my first 'big' bike since passing my test so I have precious little to compare it to, apart from a 600 bandit that had a can the size of a dustbin attached and no mid-range power whatsoever......The Motad 4-1 weakened the lower/mid range which I found a shame after owning it with the original exhaust for a year or so.
