You don't know it but you need a R1, a 2000/2001 or 2004/2006 vintage, really comfortable, handle well in all conditions, good on fuel, still look good. Another plus, they don't have the chavy image of a GSX-R or the Girly image of a Fireblade.
What year were the ones with pink frames?Biker's Nemesis said:

I have to say the 2004-06 R1 is a very good shout.Condi said:
If your dream bike is the blade, buy the blade. Plenty of people ride them without crashing.
Otherwise every time you look at the bike in the garage you'll wish it was the blade.
Thought about it, but all that extra money to run it and all that extra performance that cant be used, not really worth it.Otherwise every time you look at the bike in the garage you'll wish it was the blade.

Depends. I have a 929 Fireblade which is 23 years old. Cost £150 a year to insure and £120 a year to tax. It's like a sofa which will do 170mph. With "only" 130hp it's not scary performance, and it can (largely) be used as intended, at least in the first 3 gears. Wouldn't say it's expensive to run, and wouldn't say the performance can't be used.
EDIT - And despite being old, it still looks great, especially in the bright yellow colour scheme.
