A picture a day... biker banter (Vol 6)
Discussion
Did the DGR on the CX500, comfortable for the trundle round Aberdeen and over 16k raised by about 110 riders.
My run was made more exciting by the throttle jamming open about a mile from the end, I had to slip the clutch brutally to get to the end and fix it.
Turned out that the nut had come off the throttle return cable, easy fix. Then I found out the clutch was destroyed when I rode home so I had a very gentle and low revving run back as it was slipping a lot above about 5k rpm.
Ah well, new clutch ordered.

This bike was the bane of my life back in ‘89/‘90 when me and my mate were 17 and had our first bikes… He had an unrestricted RD125LC in a Wrangler colour scheme, and I had a brand new Honda NS125F. Very much restricted. We were not that clued up at that time re: 2T restrictions and just assumed both bikes would be similar in performance.. So it irritated me intently every time we rode (raced

Well. Its disgraced its self today.
Stopped at this turn off to let a couple of horse's pass, pulled away, into 1st then 2nd and it hicked a couple of times and started to slow. As i pulled the clutch in it cut out.
Tried to kick it over but it felt very rough kicking it over, tried again and it was solid.
Ive had the head and barrel off which slid off no problem. The con rod is moving with no play so i suspect main bearing problems.
Had a quick tear down after the evening meal but f
k it. I can't be bothered to completely strip it tonight.

I maybe should have investigated properly instead of letting emotion and frustration cloud my experience and judgement.
The problem was the condenser bracket had snapped which in turn jammed the flywheel.
I find it best to be transparent and admit to being a fool.
Every day's a school day apparently

Just bought the bike in the middle of this photo, will get it in a week or so when its registered.. My first brand new bike since 1999.. Too wet today to take a demo out for a ride. The finish is impressive, but it was sold when I fired it up.. surprisingly loud for a new bike, each one is SVA'd, so don't have to meet Euro regulations.. Hope I don't live to regret it..

Very nice, the older you get the more appreciative different things become, that's a bit special, enjoy it, even though you haven't built it![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

The dealer, who mainly sell cars.. Lotus, Caterham as well as Toyota and Mazda said they've sold 33 961s this year, and also quite a few V4s. Very nice, the older you get the more appreciative different things become, that's a bit special, enjoy it, even though you haven't built it

I bought one new about 18 months ago. I’ve had a few niggles with it which I’m happy to put down to them being low volume hand built. The factory were very quick to resolve so no complaints. They are an absolute gem to ride! Great balance between old school engine characteristics with super sharp handling and brakes. I did the Malle Mountain Rally on it last Sept and had a blast. They are definitely one of those bikes that comes alive when you press on a bit.If you enjoyed the noise on tick over just wait until it’s run in and you get the overrun pops and bangs :-)
