I have been reading on the VCA site a topic about improving the sound of the exhaust on an RT10 and wondered if anyone here had any experience of doing this. The various suggestions also reduced the heat build up under the sills which would be useful as mine get extremly hot. On another subject I took the Viper down to LeMans at the weekend and spotted the only other one, a blue and white SRT but never got to meet the owner. Just wondered if it was anyone here.

That's the piece of kit that interested me on the VCA site. Looks like the way forward. Thanks.

Going on the results of the Dyno day last year, you should see quite an increase in Horsepower as well as the improved sound... If memory serves me correctly Kev has this system fitted to his, might be worth dropping him an email for some further advice/comments

We were in Le Mans also! A steel-gray and a red RT/10...German plates (rear only).

We saw a GEN-I (red) RT/10 with also no front license plate and in the rear "Dodge Palmer, Florida" plate - funny!
He was parked at P6 and had a hardtop on.

And, we saw two other French GTS - a blue-white and a black one.

Since it was so busy we could never talk to one of the owners there.

The one I saw was in the Maison Blanc camping area which for future reference has been completely upgraded and a great improvement on what was there before. Its a great weekend and just a shame that Vipers dont qualify for the age related racing.

Yep,

Thats my exhaust system, expertly fitted by VIPER.

I would like to hear my exhaust as well, only ever hear it from inside the car!!

It is certainly louder, with a significant performance boost. It should also have made the car exhaust a little cooler, I will put that to the test during the winter when I will fit fibreglass cills supplied by Colin and hopefully get rid of the cill corrosion problem that haunts all Gen 1 RT10's, or the new cills will melt.........?

What I absolutely love is the way that the exhaust spits back at 1500 rpm when you are slowing down. That noise, even from inside the cabin, is just wonderful.

You can wait and hear it at some point or just buy it. You brought the same hardtop as I have from Bif, based on our conversation, I think you are very happy with it. Trust me, you will also love the Roe exhaust.

Hi Leatherman
It was my Viper in Maison Blanche. Its one of the old silverstone vipers and I still use it fairly regularly for trackdays which is why it looks a bit "lived in". I've been twice to the Le Mans classic and think its a great event. Would be nice if there was a formal viper club prescence as this may then enable us to drive our cars around the whole circuit. I may look into this for two years time. Would be a great opportunity.
(I think my car was the most photographed in the campsite until yours arrived!!)

I only took the car to the track on the Sunday as had a problem with it on the way down. Turned out to be corrosion on the battery terminal combined with a bad earth. Of course then had to reset the alarm system so I learnt a bit more about the car. Great idea for the next one and you can definitely count me in.

Where are you getting the fibreglass sills from ? I could do with a couple of those for my GTS, just to get rid of the bubbling paint work problem around the bolt holes.
I replaced the entire exhaust system, using Belanger headers, race cats, and 3" stainless all the way back. Made a great improvement on sound and feel, but also doesn't heat up the sills nearly as much.

I have just been reading a post on the VCA site and apparantly with the Roe exhaust you get an amazing sound with stock headers so I think I will go for that for the time being.

I wrote already to the Le Mans Classic orga team for a participation of the VIPER's in 2010.
Will keep you updated.

The French, Swiss, Brits and Germans should be able to bring 20+ cars, or?

:-)
