totally agree in this instance it was a bit over the top to delete a useful post from an established member.
I can see pistonheads point though and don't want the forum filling up with adverts from people who sign up just to post some crap in our forum but if pistonheads is going to go zero tolerance then the forum will be poorer for it. I can honestly say i would not even think of looking in the PH classified to find viper parts and don't feel they would really loose out on advertising revenue by letting those types of post slip through. We are such a small community it isn't going to make that much difference to them but the world of difference to us.
Personally i would like to see it go back to the way it used to be which was pretty much self regulating. I have and will continue to report advertisers of crap especially if they have joined up specifically to spam several forums but the odd helpful post like this or even the strange circumstances such as the gearbox the other day which perhaps warranted more of a discussion which was lost when the thread was deleted.
Do we even know who the moderators are in out little club forum? it may be better if some of us regulars stood up to take on such activities, I personally wouldn't mind as even if I'm not posting regularly I'm still lurking on here what feels like 90% of my time.
