didn't i read somewhere that the engine displacement was increased in gen 3 so that it could use the same pistons as the hemi something or other. if so they should be pretty easy to come by i would have thought. It may have been the 08 engine though so don't take my word for anything
All modern engines use forged rods as standard as a minimum spec so your rods should be fine unless you plan something revving over stock. As for pistons 'off the shelf' stock is cheapest maybe £150 each with rings. Custom pistons can be a lot better, maybe £200 each but you may not need them. Then you have to rebalance the engine. HTH.
The dodge motors only had forged rods and pistons in the gen 2 between 96 and 99 inclusive, all the others especially gen 3 had the sintered style "cracked" rods which are lighter and are ideal for their designed usage. However, if you plan on tuning, especially FI, they do suffer from a lack of strength and rigidity and dur to their structure cannot cope with over loading or deflrcting of any kind and break when the strut crippling forces are high.
God, I'm even boring myself now. I just can't seem to find a supplier. I'll look into the hemi option, as the engine is a hemi with an extra pair of cyls.....

Powered metal cracked rods are still forged in some respects although they don't seem to be hammer forged. I think there is quite a lot of confusion about forging processes these days, it certainly confuses me.
It sounds as if you plan FI and want an H beam or I beam rod but unless there's a known fault with the stockers I'd probably use them for low boost applications. Decent rods are appx £200 each if they are custom made. Shelf stock would be half of that.
What plans do you have for your engine?
