It would be worth contacting Paul Scharf in the states, as he often has alot of second hand parts available...

If going new, speak to The Wizard (Chuck)

Paul,

Sent you pm.

Have had several chats with Chuck, unbelievably friendly and helpful however, I have email Paul at Scharf auto's and I don't get a reply.

I have also emailed X2 Builders and cleveland pick a part, both seem helpful and a lot cheaper than others on ebay that I have found.

Keep hunting guys,

Guys,

I've just checked the engine numbers and it's a gen 2, 1998 vintage. Pne respect, that's good, forged internals, other is it's not as powerful

:-(

Anyhow, does this open things up a bit?

The engine was apparently used as a test bed, it's immaculate bar a hole in the sump made form outside.
The guy is convinced it's a gen 3 but the engine numbers say its a gen 2.
Do gen 3 heads fit on a gen 2?
The engine number is 8EWCDX016
Other number cast VIPB15
Also has cast 05037031AD
Engraved 27-01-05

The cyl heads have 13-05-05 cast on them.

Without whipping the heads off and checking disp, what's the easiest way to check if it's a gen 2 or 3? If it's a gen 2 it's a 98 with forged gizzards which is good.
What are the physical differences to look out for?
This engine origins are suspiciously unknown.....

If anyone can help that would be great

can't find it. Have you got the link?

It's noy going in a viper but a minor....... I've been offered a gen 4 but it's the drive by wire that'll be a problem otherwise i'd pay the extra for it unless someone knows different?
