M3 Southbound and you didn't come and say hello!!!?? You could have come and joined the BBQ! Ok, there was only myself and Fishboy, but there was plenty of meat on the grill... biggrin

We got off at Basingstoke, so didn’t make it to the true south, Cant believe you have a BBQ big enough for more meat than Fishboy can eat, unless you have one of these, and even then it would be close

Like the look of the hemi one though.

There was a whole lot of steak, burgers, sausages, Lamb steaks... I pretty much just ate meat, Lou kept saying to me, "do you want any chips or salad, or garlic bread or anything?" ... Response: "No, I'm fine with my plate of meat thanks"

Did have some cucumber and lettuce in the roll with my burger, just to assist with my five a day... and does tomato ketchup count?

I'll give you a heads up next time so that you keep driving, if you didn't make it below Winchester you were still up north really...

Love that Hemi BBQ, the coals were a Bcensoredd to light where they have been sat for a while... I'm starting to get tempted to change to gas...

Gas is only good for burgers wieners and baked potatoes. Best thing for lighting charcoal is one of those webber chimney things. never fails.

Looks like one of those contraptions for making a sauna hotter!

I've not seen one of those before, will have a look into it...

Fishboy has a huge gas BBQ at his place, and was quite impressed with it... Plus it's just light, cook, and eat, which is substantially better than the usual light it, light again, have another go, wait a while, make sure it's still lit, then wait an hour til it's hot enough, then spread the coals about, cook and eat... I haven't the patience when it comes to BBQ cooking... Maybe I just need to get it lit substantially earlier in the day, but then the smell of the coals makes me hugry, so either way I can't wait to eat and keep eyeing up the steaks

Best not do that after you've lit it or you'll singe your eyebrows

I have one of these for burgers and such,

which is good as you can fire it up and cook, but its no good for steaks, for them it has to be charcoal on a cast iron grid.

The webber chimney thing is expensive for what you get but it is about the only BBQ accessory i have brought that not only met the claims but far exceeded my expectation. Just three sheets of newspaper and you are off in about 20 mins, so it easily pays for itself in saved cost of lighter fluid etc. I think i have only had to have a second go about once when it was cold, damp and windy.
