Hi,

I have finally decided to import a 2006 SRT/10 Coupe, and I was just wondering about the headlights, and if / how they can be adjusted to meet UK SVA regs. Im actually in Jersey, but the local authorities follow the UK SVA inspection rules I believe.

Does anyone know - is there an internal "switch" (similar to certain European cars) which can be flicked for driving on our side of the road, do they have to be replaced - if so where can I get them - or is there a conversion kit.

Thanks guys.

Not too sure on the adjustment of the later cars, but 'Viper' might know? If he does not reply on here, drop him a PM smile

And just out of interest, what did you have to do on earlier cars?

Twiddle the adjustment knobs behind the headlamps smile

earlier (gen 2) you take the back of the head light enclosure off, loosen four screws and rotate the lamp mounting about 10 degrees. this changes the beam pattern from a horizontal with a step to diagonal step with the rights side down. I presume gen 3 is similar, however you may have to put regular bulbs in a gen 3 rather than hid's as they require self leveling and washers.

good choice of car wink there is no internal switch or headlight washers on the imports, so a bit of tinkering will be required

unfortunately you will also need to fit a rear foglight and (fender) indicators, for the MOT at least

the stereo also wont pick up many radio stations, but that isnt important

Thanks guys.

In the SRT/10 manual it mentions a rear fog light switch... So I thought on the 2006 a retro-fit hopefully wasnt required.

Also can you explain fender indicators - can you point me to any pics of such fittings please?

thanks again. im looking forward to joining the Viper club!

Hello, One of the UK members did a write up on importing a Gen 2 ACR. Here's a link to the website, www.ukviperclub.co.uk Look under IMPORTS, then go to page 2 you can see the (temporary whistle ) position of side indicators for SVA wink

are you reading a viper specific euro manual ?
as there isnt actually a rear fog switch in a US spec viper

here's the best pic i have at the moment without going into the garage of the aftermarket indicators, they are quite discreet compared to the euro factory GTS indicators

took my fender flashers off after first MOT (same day as SVA test) and not needed them since. SVA needed them (which now has apparently become a much more rigorous test since april this year...), but not MOT.

Thanks for the pic.

Yes, it is a US manual downloaded yesterday from the US official site. I was quite surprised to see the reference to the rear fog light also - but it is there in black and white.. I will post a pic of the page of the manual tomorrow. Maybe its a printing error as the "rear fog light" is only mentioned once.

mostly likely just generic text copied and pasted from other maunals into the viper booklet, does it say anywhere how to turn them on wink things like this occur a lot, a bit like the stickers on the car Clarkson went on about refering to the rear seat screens

can you post the link to the download cheers

Nope, nothing else in the manual about rear fog lights. Guess it is a printing error.

This (2006 manual) was downloaded from: http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/manuals/index.html

Not quite true there is no switch for the rear fog lights but there is a warning light in the centre panel, I know cause mine lights up when the fogs are on.

There is no more SVA its been replaced by a stringent test.

Sorry meant to add its now the IVA biggest problem may be noise cars are now expected to be under 99db a new SRT/10 when I did mine did 103 from memory.

this may not be the final version of the IVA doc but is probably pretty close.

http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag0aff4/n/IVA-Insp...

Noise is at 99dba now.

IVA effects all imported vehicles and will/has replaced the SVA with a more stringent test that also includes most of the MOT checks.

Should pick up more written off cars then wink
