Started this project of a smooth hood for mine several years ago, after John Hazzard and I were talking and he kindly sold me a race car hood that needed fixing (after pins weren't latched down) and then later a Hennessey nose cone. I was on a small budget but with sights set on a possible 200 mph standing mile, so one thing was better aero, thanks to John. I often wandered how Viper hoods around the louvers and duct would look smooth? So after fixing the hood and getting strength into it, I cut it up, bonded in louvers and ducts and smoothed it all out, flush fitted catches, and smoothed that nose out too! Side on you can see the aero profile! He didn't look too pretty going out in primer and bare fibreglass to the mile event. Looking a bit better now paint is under way!

Seen a few pics of the smooth hoods having been done in the states, they do look good!

I have to be honest, not a big fan of those Hennessey nose's but if it's there for a purpose and it does it's job then all is good. There was an SRT Coupe in Germany last year which had a Hennessey nose etc on it, it kept spinning out all over the place, we were often debating whether it was the Hennessey kit affecting the aero of the car or whether the driver was just not exactly what you would call particularly gifted...

like the latches that will give easy access to the engine no more broken backs, looks like hours of fun Nad rubbing down and filling, turned out great though

how did you do on the mile then, did the new nose work?

Rear arch needed a little more than paint there!

Dave you are right, the H-nose does give quite a bit of frontal down force, so much so that at 200 mph I was glad there was 2 lanes to the runway because the rear was so light and wandering! With stock nose no worries but was 0.5 mph slower! So yes that smiley nose has been a help with several >200 mph standing miles. Personaly I prefer the stock GTS nose in many ways.

Carl like everyone else, I'm keeping everything crossed for you, really hope to see you run at the weekend.
