DUXFORD THANK YOU FROM VENOM 500 ish
Discussion
Just wanted to dedicate a post to everyone who help us out over the weekend. It started off fine when I met up at Neils house with Spud and put Neil through another "film night"
(you know you love,em). When pulling onto Neils drive we heard a squeeking noise from under the car!Odd but we thought nothing much of it (just put it down to a hardcore mouse under the car somewhere). Pulled off Neils drive Friday morning and more of the same! At this point with the steering snatching I guessed I had a problem, managed to get to the cafe without any problems after a few hours of driving but once again the steering wasn,t happy when I parked up at the cafe.
Once parked up I blinged off the brake /road dust and stupidly stuck a chickens head (sqeeky one of the free range girls) over sneeky pete!
(A very bad idea)
Off we all go after breakfast and just amile down the road , no power steering and temp rockets from 90 to 120 in just a few seconds! Cut engine and coast to a halt by the side of the road (but what a great time to breakdown whilst in a convoy of Vipers/Rams!) Jump out of car, pop bonnet, notice knacked pulley wheel....removed chicken photo from sneeky pete badge asap! (Sorry Sneeky). Next thing I know the Doctor has arrived and a large wall of red is reversing toward me....Andrew and Jenny in the Ram500!
. Venoms soon on the way again with the aid of its "RED" tow hook
(must remember to paint it Blue/White just in case there a next time) and I follow the wall of red into Duxford (Thank you so much Andrew and Jenny!
Doctor Baz set to work sorting out what is required, Nigel kindly offers a spare pulley unit 50 miles away at home and after the show sets of to find it, Venom is sent off the the surgery and assistant Sam carefully removes Venom from flatbed into operating bay and makes Venom ready for when the Doc arrives home.Whilst all this is going on it turns out my Sat car show at Worcester will now have to be cancelled
but with Venom at the docs I can attend Paul and Barbaras BBQ!
.....I get various kind offers of lifts to the BBQ from Scrump Boy (formally Fishboy), the Doc , Neil in the
Gen3......to name but a few, I decided on the Doctors slow YellowRT (Safe bet me thinks coz yellow ain,t that fast
).....I tried to remember the last time a was so scared in a car but my mind was blank and dazed as I rolled out of the Yellow Beast (sorry for the nail marks in the dash and and seat stains)....
Yellow IS FAST.....yes your hearing correct...YELLOW IS BLOODY FAST...700bhp+ fast!
FANSTATIC ride Baz!
Whilst watching some muppet climbing an apple tree in an effort to catch a fish (I don,t fish but I always thought the float needed to be in the wet stuff?) and enjoying some great food, beer and company the call comes through from Nigel.....the parts no good (Many thanks Nigel for trying to help me out, more so if it meant you missed going to the BBQ), the hunt is now on for a pump, Baz,Neil make frenzed call around the planet to find the part...suddenly Neil get Nadine on the phone, she has the part in a box in Bristol....but how to get part?......(Thank you Nadine for your kind offer of the part!
).....Andrew and Jenny offer to collect part from Nadine and bring it back to London the next day!
........:thank you again Andrew/Jenny for your kind offer!
But just as the details are sorted out I hear Paul enquire as to what we need to fix the Venom? An alloy pulley!.....Just going into the garage he says....a few mins later with glass of red wine in one hand (thats my line!
)and an Alloy pulley wheel in the other out he wanders "this what you looking for?" he says!
So not only does Paul and Babs supply a great BBQ they also supply the wonder part for the Venom.
Thank you both so much.
Next stop Sam and the Docs....free B&B
kip the night next to a snoreing Mr Neil
And after some breakfast and Joels MOT ,the Doc sets to work on the Venom, Sam supplies loads of tea and food
and soon the jobs done , even the power steering pump cap gets a safety mod (thank you so much Baz). Later that day were back on the road and on our way (So thank you again Sam and Baz for getting us up and running for Germany).
I guess that is about it, sorry for the long long story but I guess I need to convey how some many people helped and offered to help in so many ways, and in a funny way I had a fantastic Friday/weekend,the help and offers of help made it a very special meeting for me.
So I,d just like to finish by saying thank you to Paul,Babs, the Doc,Sam, Nigel,Andrew,Jenny,Nadine,Neil, Joel,Scrumpy Boy and anyone else who I may have forgotten! What a Club
and thanks for making Germany happen for us!......I love you guys....and girls! (But not in that way
if you know what I mean...I, a married man
) Sorry for poor spelling ,bit of an epic and can,t be fagged with checking it)
