first MOT

just took the new arrival for mot but the damn computer is asking for a reg,which i havnt got yet because the log book hasnt bin sent out yet and theres no plates either,is there any way of going through the the system without putting a reg in,
if not i guess i,ll have to wait for the log book or wait for a call from the guy i bought it off as hes in bed snoozing right now

The MOT is done on the Chassi No Vin plate in corner of windscreen

You then take MOT and other paperwork to your local DVLA office where they will issue you a reg no.

Your MOT tester needs to enter the last 6 digits of your VIN number for the reg when the computer asks for it on set up at the test. The DVLA will then re-issue the MOT when you leave the paper work with them, with the assigned Reg in that box. The VIN is on a drivers door sticker, along with other info that they'll need, eg for brakes test: weight of car. You'll also find year, month, day, hour, of your car manufacture there, so you can know when its birthday is! The cars should of had its VIN checked before it left USA by US customs! Its also stamped on the chassis rails.

thanks guys,the bloke at the mot place should have known this eh!!,but dont think he has many vipers in from the USA,
so its the last 6 digits of the vin number,ok,sorted,will have to return for the mot next week now
just about got her on the ramps with the aid of a few planks,
anyone ever had problems with water geting through the rear windscreen,mines not sealing brill,it doesnt help not having a garage to keep her snug,ho hum

Are the drain holes blocked in the gutter? Try getting a thin piece of flexible wire and feeding it down the holes to clear any blockages? Other than that all I could think of is smearing some vaseline around the top of the rubber seal strip, gently close the rear glass then open it and see if the rubber is in contact with the rear glass all the way around?

Used the VIN on all the ones i have SVA'd/ IVA'd....

paul my last gts had that problem , get a electrician,s nylon cable puller and poke that through, not wire (tut tut mark you will scratch it) that will clear all the crud out .

also chuck some serewed up news paper in the boot it will help take some moisture
my old car was soaking ,and steamed up all the time ,but changing the paper every few days or so realy helped

Er I meant electrical wire with the outta sheathing still in place

i,ll get some cable of my van and try that,had a feeling those drainage holes might be gunked up,many thanks for the tips
