I did (do) have high flows. Apparently Random Tech ones, but I didn't fit them (came with the car).

If thats a high flow, how restrictive is a normal one? Could this be the remnants of the original one that has just made its way to the exit?

Well, I didn't have the high-flow cats fitted but I have confirmation from the retailer that they were fitted. So the bit spat out is not from the original ones. Remember that this car came from California where there are very high emissions regulations.
