i've got both an auto pygama and a carcoon, both for outside. The carcoon is great, but obviously it's a bit of a faff. The auto pygama is great too, but expensive.

TBH, I would reconsider the house smile.

Our Chimaera spent something like 7 years outside, it never behaved better, probably because it got used more. Had a Leven hood cover that never really worked. Just make sure the car is watertight (yes it can be done) and don't worry about covers.

If all goes to plan I will also be moving to a place without garage, until I build one. However, I will have a relatively sheltered space at the back of the house to put one of the plastic portable garages (20ft x 10ft) from eBay at around 160 quid.
Even if they only last one year it’s not a big amount to spend. It’s just another running cost.

I built a "carport" (that overstates it by some margin) one weekend for under £100. 8x 3x3" timber posts (four each side) some 2x1" to make a frame on the top and a few sheets of that clear corrugated poly roofing. I made the fromt about 6ft and the back about 4ft so there was decent run-off and it did a cracking job for years. Way better than a cover as you haven't got anything rubbing against the car in the wind and you don't get stuff growing in the dark.

Cheers,
Matt.

ISTR that the best way to keep the car watertight was to waterproof the hood. Fixed it for me, anyway.

Reconsider the move, there are plenty of houses, a buyers market!

I have never been more miserable then spending 3 years at my old house with a garage the size of a rabbit hutch!

Not now though.

TBH im looking to sell the Chim shortly so having no garage is a good excuse to give it some use theres normally 2-3 cars in front of the garage.
