Hi all,

when removing my battery found this relais laying around.

What is it for and more importantly where does it belong?

There's some marks on the fuse panel so I suppose it belongs there. Possibly doesn't fit anywhere else due to it's shape. Didn't get a chance to try because of work...

Anyone has a list of which fuse/relais is which?

Thanks!

Do not really know, could be a fan relay, or any thing but one pin needs straightening.

Drop the fuse panel and see which relay locations have cables connected, mark the corresponding on the front face that will narrow the list a little, then look in the bible pages 240 to 243 for a possible location.

What is the aluminum panel with what looks like a motor?

Good question... Could it have something to do with the alarm/immobiliser?

Doubt it - its a funny looking thing isnt it. Als is it me or is the fuse panel in the "wrong" place - it would normally be on the back of the footwell rather than on the top underside !

Now that's very helpfull!! Thanks. Don't know why TVR hasn't bothered to include this in their owners manual...

Will print to keep in the car.

Suppose it's the wiper interval then as it says "Verzögerungs-Relais" which means retarder/interval in German.

Apparently this is how they fitted it on LHD cars with aircon... Not very convenient I know. You have to throw yourself in the footwell head up, upside down trying not to faint ;-)

Sadly the relay plate arrangement went through a few iterations after that one, there are 4 (IIRC?) different designs in Steve Heaths book and evem then my 96 car is a hybrid of two of them smile

It's a LHD car, first registerd in 2003.
Maybe they ran out of chim fuseboxes and went for the first one they found laying around...
Not very unusual for TVR but a bit unconvenient for those working on one.

It's more likely a Tuscan fusebox then, I heard of the factory supplying them as replacement parts when they had no more originals left to owners that had destroyed their fuseboxes & needed replacements. If it's been replaced rather than original (for your LHD car) the relay might have been left over from the conversion, I'd guess your handbook would give a good clue to that.

It will obviously be laid out & wired up differently to what most of us know on here.

I recall someone having had the 'replacement kit' from TVR, which included the Tuscan fusebox, connector housings & terminal pins, but I'm pretty sure there wasn't a wiring diagram.. I let him have one of my spare fuseboxes which is why I heard about it, felt quite sorry for the predicament the factory had put him in TBH.

It's the aircon recirculator. Mounted adjacent the battery in front of the 'A' pillar on mine ('99 RHD). It's simply a motor that opens and closes a flap in the side of the footwell when the switch on the transmission tunnel is pressed. It also stops you from mounting the ECU next to the battery....
