Hi all,

Had my beautiful Chim for a month now and absolutely loving it. There are just a few niggles I want to get sorted before they start to irritate!

I'm a little curious about the clunking at low speeds. Sometime it sounds like there's a sack of stones in the back ( there isn't before you ask!) The former owner replaced rear ' dampers' 2 and a half yrs ago. Is a set of the Gaz gold pros in order?

My petrol gauge sensor is a bit wild. It can shift around back and forth in seconds by up to an 8th. Is this normal?

The roof rubber seal is coming off. Any idea of cost here to sort?

The boot doesn't stay open.

The passenger window doesn't go all the way down

I want a new stereo fitted. Is this a Halfords job or does it need a specialist?

Any help gratefully appreciated,

thanks,
Dave

Hi dave
Is the clunking definately suspension related? because the petrol level float is known to bang on the inside of the tank, usually when 1/4 - 1/2 full.

Roof rubber, depends which bit, but any coach-fitter or cabriolethood repairer wouldnt charge a huge amount.

Boot just needs a new gas ram - quite cheap, i'll dig out the details

is the passenger window stopping with a definate clunk? or grinding to a halt?
When i got mine, someone had attached the door card with long wood screws (!) and one was stopping the window in its tracks (and another caused a scratch to the glass)

I wouldnt let halfords fill my washer bottle.
do the stereo yourself its not hard!

Hi,

The Clunking from the back could be the Diff Bushs being worn, the other thing it could be is the fuel tank flexing. There are plenty of threads on these.

The Petrol gauge is notoriously vague, I use the "how far have I driven" technique of knowing when to fill up :-)

On Clevor Trevor the Hood seals are £8.10/metre (you need 10 metres to do the roof & hoop) but with all these things you can probably find a "non-TVR" priced alternative

My boot doesn't stay open either, I took the piston off & it appears ok, but my boot lid seems to fill with water, so I assume that changes the balance. I was advised to use this site http://www.sgs-engineering.com/shop/categories/sea...

Hmm, don't know about the window not retracting properly, sound like you may have to take the panel of, which is a PITA and can require a childs assistance if you have large arms.

I'm sure the stereo would be easy enough, I'd do it myself rather than let an Halfrauds numpty near your TVR

And the Cigarette lighter again may require the panel to come off, but it could be a fuse, there are a few different Fuse Box configurations, so check your handbook, but even then it may not match... Ah TVRs :-)

If you can use spanners get Steve Heaths bible, it was £30 from TVRCC lasst time I looked. It's full of helpful stuff and how to's that even I can do :-)

Try Seals + Direct at www.sealsplusdirect.co.uk for seals. Approx £4.00 per metre
