Its on my pre cat V8S.

Occasionally I notice a quite loud 'crack crack' sound when stopping - I can only describe it like something being whipped with a thin stick. It does it a few times then stops.

Exhaust manifolds or something?

It's not a sound I can really pin to anything obvious.

Cracking sound when stopping, or stopped? - if the former, I'd be inclined to check for something loose or failing. Difficult to identify on a forum as it could be any number of things, but worth checking shocks, exhaust, calipers etc all done up properly.
No doubt more informed members will add their thoughts in due course.

When I first got my Chim, on stopping I use to get a loud crack from the rear!! I thought originally so one had run in to me! It was a vacum in the fuel tank caused by a blocked breather system. Worth a check?? John042.

It could well be just the exhaust cooling down. I'm not sure if you're saying it's as you stop, or after you've stopped. Exhausts will sometimes make quite a loud 'pinging' noise when cooling, although I've only had 1 car that's ever done it (not a TVR).

Its when I come to a stop but the engine is still running, so if I've been driving along, not necessarily 'spirited' driving, and then pull up it makes the sound a few times then stops. Its quite loud.
I did wonder if it could be the body flexing or something - its had a full body off so I wondered if it could be flexing as its not quite sat as it was originally?
Its a wild guess though.

I get a sudden lack of sound when I've stopped smile

Does sound like suspension link or outside chance of a slightly sticky brake.

Its when it has actually stopped completely - it may do it as I'm coming to a stop but it definately does it when the car isn't moving at all.

Sorted it I hope. Checked the manifold bolts - managed to get half a turn on the lower bolt on No2 - with my fingers! Tightened up now - all the others were OK but I nipped them up a touch. Time will tell. Bolts not too bad to get to on V8S although I do have baboon arms which helps hehe

All bolts are stainless with nord lock washers so hopefully thats the last of this.
