Just wondering on a 4.0 Chimera 1996 what the rev limit should be, and whats the fastest top end you have seen in yours?

Thanks

Dunno, I hold on tight to the wheel, and concentrate on the vanishing point, rather than look at dials and stuff, with concentration focused on little boxes 8ft in the air and cars with a secondary mirror.

My limiter kicks in, and I mean KICKS in at around 6000.

Justin, dont be worried about speed cameras, Im sure it was a TVR on top gear that managed to go so fast it didnt set one off at about 165mph?.....not sure my chimera will do it but when it clean and highly polished this alone gives me an extra 30mph top end oh and 2.5inches more in the trouser department.... :-)

on a VERY quick trip to le mans last year we saw the rev limiter come in, in top at about 156mph. it was like hitting a brick wall!!! £ signs instantly appeared in my eyes as i thught the engine had fallen out! not bad for an 11 year old car. this is the only time i have been flat out in her but a was been pushed by an H plate 535i!

I've not yet hit the rev limiter. Have seen over 6000 revs - probably about 6250.

That would mean 5th gear is capable of 177mph! (clearly the car is not physically capable of reaching that speed).

Have seen 145 on the clock and it was still pulling strong - actually felt like it was just starting to get into its stride.
