Usually water will build up and run down the seal on the front edge and runs in at the bottom corner. There are a couple of pinched points on the bottom of the seal which were designed to let the water out, but I find mine runs in before it get to the pinch.

It'll make you cringe, but take the matts out, sit in the car and have someone hold a slow flowing hose over the roof. After a couple of mins you should see exactly where its coming in. The angle the car is parked at can also affect it.

Next on my list of things to do, so also interested in a solution - New seal perhaps?

Had this problem occasionally. Generally caused by roof fabric loosing its water resistance. Buy some FABSIL and brush over fabric to waterproof. Has worked for me every time. FABSIL available from most camping stores.

I thought that I had made mine leak proof until Sunday night... The rear hood clearly needs re-proofing, so glad I hadnt fitted the new rear mats from DC trim yet!!!

It did rain an awful lot though and the two main leak points have definately been fixed!

Are you sure its just water?

If your clutch master or brake master seals are shot the fluid will end up in the drivers footwell.

The bit of carpet which is vertical behind the pedals at the end of the footwell might also give you a clue where the fluid is getting in from. If the leaks are from the clutch/brake master or the cover in the engine bay it will be wet because it runs down the back of the pedal box, coming out about 4 inches or so from the floor.

Do you have a couple of bolts either side of the steering UJ in the drivers side wheel arch? These hold the pedal box on the Griff and I can imagine they will let water in if not sealed properly.

just been outside to check the carpets the sides are bone dry as is the back behind the pedal box the carpet is only wet on the flat area on the floor thats why i cant understand if it was coming through the roof. door rubbers.or somewhere in the engine bay surely the sides of the carpet would be wet .beginning to think i might have a hole in the floor or something like that cheers steve.

Thought the matts in the footwells are removable. I'd be tempted to try an edge up and get a look underneath. iPhone camera with flash on can be a very useful tool for tasks like these.

This is where mine was leaking - If you look with the bonnet closed, one of the bonnet vents lines up very well with the seal, so water runs straight down on to it.

I've used Fabsil all over my roof, just one coat, think I'll do another before the weekend to make double sure. Then give it the hosepipe test eek

I think the footwells can leak on their own accord. My dad's M-Series leaks in the footwell and there's no question of the hood fabric being porous there... wink

Okay, the design may have moved on a bit since then, but I'm fairly sure my Chimaera leaks in the footwell too.
