Hi All,

Recoloured my fading roof last night and found black Renovo dye sneaking between the roof and the window and dropping onto magnolia interior. Paniced but fortunately managed to get it off the seats - cleaned up, went to bed. Looks like a managed to forget to wipe the rear screen last night as it has a number of splashes of black dye on it when I looked this morning. Managed to get some off by using a couple of plastic polishes but not really doing the job.

Any thoughts on what I can try?

Cheers.

Big Al.

I used ordinary paint thinners, works a treat, you'll be there forever with anything else and you'll end up scratching the screen........i tried clay, screen polish, 3m compound etc etc

How good is the dye - Other than the splashes is it easy to apply and give good results?
Anyone tried the blue - Is it a good colour match?

Same here, I did my roof last weekend, and used White spirit on the paintwork and rear screen. I was worried about the results but it it worked fine.

i used the blue, comes up quite good! but be very careful its easy to splash little spots onto the car and murder to get off, i strongly advise some sort of masking tape or cover to protect the area you are working on

I'd recommend removing the hood to do this. It's an easy job and will probably be quicker than masking etc...

Might give mine a go this weekend

They are a real pig arnt they. I had my wife gentlty turn the Alan key while I positioned the nutts. Sticking the nutts to your finger with tape just so you can get them started and then use an adjustable spanner to hold them whilst they are tightened from the other side.

If I ever have to do it again, before removing I will surround them in fibre glass resin and let it set before removing them so the nutts stay in position.

i put the nut in a pair of long nose pliers and put a zip tie on that to stop the jaws coming apart. but i physically cant get my hand up inside for the 2 side ones :-(. i like the resin idea, but as you tighten the alan bolt wont the resin crack? or am i being stupid ( again) ?

Had the same problem so taped the nutt to the end of my finger at 90 degrees so I could slide my hand up flat.

Not sure if the resin will crack. Thinking about it it will probably need some fiberglass aswell to build up a mound of resin. I've used the kits from halfords for fixing the battery box bolt holes and had no problems there - it's pretty tough stuff. Might give it a go at the weekend. As it's fathers day Sunday I'm hoping to be permitted some time with my true love wink

That malarky sounds worse than the cleanup operation! I can confirm that thinners does do a cracking job of getting Renovo off the rear screen and a clay bar will get it off the paintwork. Just remember to put the roof on properly before you start and you'll be laughing!
