Exhaust manifold gaskets - best type & where from?

Make sure it is the actual gasket and not the manifold first! I thought my gasket had gone until Tower view stuck a tube inbetween where the four pipes join together and the other end in my ear and it turnes out theres a crack in the manifold.
If it is the gasket then I just found THIS on the tvrgear.com website. The manifold gasket is about the 5th from bottom item. Only 4 quid!!

Have you had it repaired yet? I may forget the local TVR mechanic and wait until its service and mot next month, I`ve heard that studs sometimes break as well !!
No haven't had it fixed yet. It's been ticking for months now, but something else a little more urgent always seems to crop up. Bodywork, tyres, diff, etc etc!!
For now I'm going to do a DIY jobbie on it (as suggested by Peter Miller a few threads down from here) until I can afford a new manifold (£400ish!) or pick up a decent 2nd hand one.

£400 ? I sincerely hope it`s only gaskets then!!
Can it not be welded or is that only a short term solution? Edited to add - read the Peter Miller problem, wonder how common that is? Will keep that in the back of my mind if needed! Thanks.

I know, I was gutted when I found out it was the manifold. The £400(ish) one is the cat version. I think the non-cat version is cheaper, although I was going to get the precats taken out anyway.
One sure fire way to find the leak is get a bit of flexible tubing, turn the engine on, shove one end of the tubing in you ear, and probe around the gasket/manifold area with the other end. You'll definately know when you've found it.
Make sure to check right up inbetween where the 4 pipes join.

Think I might have the same problem, I was going to get it looked at when the car is serviced next month, but that could work out very expensive.
I originally thought that it was just noisey tappets...
