Linkage on my Chim 400 gearbox just broke....
Am about 20 miles from home, just want to know is it safe to drive back home???

I can still select the gears, but the gear lever has a really long travel...

Please help!!

Probably OK, stick it in third and stay in the same gear all the way, torque can come in handy sometimes.

It's not happened to me, but I believe there is a linkage widget that comes off on the top of the gearbox and isn't too hard to fix ... I hope your problem is this 'simple' one instead of something more sinister.

Hi

Do you mean that the "H" has disappeared and the lever flops around?

If so then I had this on my old Griff and Peninsula fixed it plus a new door actuator for around £100. Reconed it was a bit fiddly but not an expensive job.

Where was the £200 cost from out of interest? (Main dealer?)

Cheers

Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. (for the second time). It shouldn't cost much.

But I've had a problem with 2nd syncro mesh for a long time so I am getting the whole transmission replaced.

good luck
