Hi , just wanted to know before i remove plenum chamber for powder coating when removing the throttle assembly does the butterfly valve remain in the assembly during coating process or does it remove completly. I guess i will have to set up the potentiometer on reassembly but having not pulled anything apart yet not quite sure what to expect Thanks for any replies

I would leave the butterfly alone, the powder coaters usually tape over anything you don't want coated including the stub where the inlet hose fits over and the insides wink

I'd take the opposite view and if they are going to blast anywhere near the thing to clean it up prior to coating, I'd rather remove the butterfly and seals then flush everything before re-assembly.

You just need to loosen the the 2 screws on the butterfly and the spindle etal is straightforward to strip out.

With blasting, painting and putting in an oven I wouldn't be sure of all sorts of stuff getting in to places it shouldn't, be it grit / gunge / paint / old grease, rubber seals.....

All the tricky stuff is on the linkage which you were having to strip off anyway. The butterfly is extremely straightforward, just pinch the end of the screws back together and they pop out easily (like split pins that's all)... in case you've not done it before wink

You wouldnt believe it everything came out quite easily but the screws in the butterfly wont budge, squeezed ends together left to soak in penetrating fluid now try again later

Stiff ones you can occasionally start just by carefully twisting with the pliars on the split bit (thread doesn't count for much in that area)
