I had the alarm siren fixed on my service, (great) but now every time I unlock the car the siren goes of for about a second.
Any ideas.

When I spoke to the dealer about replacing my alarm siren (good ol' reliable Meta unit!) they said that they had tried to replace only the alarm unit on previous occassions for other customers without much success and ended up replacing all of the alarm... sounded a bit OTT to me. They didn't say how the problem displayed itself.

Sorry if I'm telling you how to suck eggs but you could try pushing the dealer who fixed yours to sort out the problem because it's clearly not doing what it's supposed to do.... but if they say the problem is coming from one of the other units (I believe that there are three units integrated to form the alarm/immobilser system) it could get expensive. Best to talk to them first, find out what the options are, how much work they are willing to do for free seeing as how they didn't fix the problem in the first place and try and agree a way forward.

Then tell me how to sort out the alarm on my car

Try disconnecting the siren (at the front) and cleaning the connection.

If you're going to disconnect the siren, either pack your ears with cotton wool in adavance, or see if you can switch the thing off first. Apparently there is some kind of key on the back of the siren? I've heard them mentioned on this site before, but haven't checked it out. If you are close to the siren when it goes off, you'l find the experience extremely painful. I was wrestling with mine at 2am a couple of months ago, and it ain't fun. The siren's internal battery has enough juice to keep it blaring away for quite some time.
